Google Messages is preparing to release an update to fix an annoying issue in RCS chats by allowing users to add captions to images.
Currently, when sharing an image in an RCS chat, the text and image are sent as separate messages. The upcoming change will enable sending both together – the text will appear as a caption at the bottom of the image.
This minor but helpful update brings Google Messages closer to becoming a more integrated and modern messaging platform.
Other new features coming to Messages include Magic Compose, Photomoji, Voice Moods, and Bard chat integration. Bard can assist users with composing messages, translating, identifying images, and exploring interests right within Messages.
Enabling captions for images in RCS chats eliminates a friction point in the messaging experience. While a subtle change, it demonstrates Google’s commitment to ongoing improvements to provide users with a robust and intuitive communication tool.
