On October 17, 2023, the federal government of Pakistan announced changes to the office timings for the winter season.
The Cabinet Secretariat Establishment Division issued a notification stating that public offices operating five days a week (Monday to Friday) would now function from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. This is a shift from the previous timings of 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
The new schedule also includes a half-hour break from 1 pm to 1:30 pm for prayer and lunch. These changes were implemented immediately upon announcement.
In addition to the changes in office timings, the federal government also adjusted the timings for all state-run and private schools for the winter season.
The Federal Directorate of Education confirmed the new timings for all educational institutions in the urban and rural areas of the capital. Single-shift schools and colleges will now start classes from 8:00 am. The revised timings for both offices and educational institutions came into effect on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
