The continuation of the exam in Pakistan has been announced by Cambridge International. Exams will resume on Monday, May 15, 2023, according to an email delivered to school heads and officials on Saturday. Exams scheduled for May 10, 11, and 12 were canceled due to safety concerns raised by countrywide protests.
Following the British Council’s decision, Cambridge emphasized the safety of Pakistani candidates in the last few days, according to the email.
Exams will be held by the Cambridge timetable, and candidates should report to the allocated exam sites as specified in the Statement of Entry and Venue Letter. Cambridge expressed appreciation to the school authorities for providing support during this difficult time.
The email said that the results would not be based on School Assessed Grades and that schools would not be required to compile a Portfolio of Evidence of candidates’ efforts. Instead, applicants’ marks will be determined by the exams they take.
Candidates whose examinations were canceled can still earn a result provided they took at least one qualifying component and completed at least 15% of the overall assessment in the June 2023 exam series.
According to the email, there is a well-established protocol for issuing results in such circumstances. When a candidate is missing from an exam component for an appropriate cause, Cambridge calculates their performance in the components they did not take based on their performance in the components they did take.
The Cambridge website has a full explanation of this method. Finally, the email noted that evaluated marks are neither an average grade, a school-provided forecasts grade, or the candidate’s mock exam grade.
