Adobe is about to make mobile device video editing more accessible than ever. The company has announced that later this month, it will release a free version of Adobe Premiere on iPhone and iPad that will provide users with the power to edit, save, and publish professional-quality videos directly from their devices.
Unlike many free editing apps, Adobe says that the new mobile version of Premiere will not feature any watermarks, even when saving and publishing videos. The app is described as “fast, free, and intuitive,” reimagined to suit the requirements of mobile creators while still providing powerful editing tools.
Users will experience pro-level creative control without the steep learning curve that is commonly available in desktop editing software. While some in-app purchases will be available for generative AI credits, the core video editing experience will be completely free.
The launch marks another step in Adobe’s effort to expand its mobile offerings, as the Photoshop app on iPhone has been free, and its AI-powered DSLR camera app, Project Indigo. Adobe is making itself a one-stop solution to creators who want to edit videos to post them on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or even personal projects without requiring a PC subscription.
According to the Apple App Store listing, the new Adobe Premiere app will be released on September 30. Users can already preorder the app and it will be automatically downloaded on launch day. Adobe also confirmed that it will launch the Adobe version on Android in the future to reach an even larger audience.
While Adobe has not described all the differences between the mobile and desktop versions of Premiere, the company notes that this app will offer its most essential tools and is likely to be integrated with AI.
