Shawwal Moon Not Sighted, Pakistan to Celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday

The National Ruet-e-Hilal Committee said on Thursday that because the Shawwal moon was not seen, Eid-ul-Fitr would fall on Saturday, April 22.

Moulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, made the statement. According to the notification, Saturday will be the first day of the holy holiday of Eid-ul-Fitr, although Friday will also be important since it will be celebrated as Jumma-tul-Wida.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs issued a statement shortly after the announcement, announcing that Shawwal 1, 1444 AH will begin on Saturday.

The federal government has already declared Eid-ul-Fitr a five-day vacation. The holidays will last from Friday (April 21) until Tuesday (April 25).

The Ruet-i-Hilal Research Council (RHRC) indicated earlier this month that Eid-ul-Fitr will most likely be celebrated on April 22, adding that even though the committees will meet on the evening of April 20, the chances of seeing the moon are slim.
