
The Federal Directorate of Education has announced the schedule for winter vacations for public schools in Islamabad. As per the notification, the winter break will start on December 25th and end on December 29th. Schools will reopen on January 1st, 2024 after the New Year’s holiday.
Earlier, the Punjab government had also declared winter vacations in the province from December 18th to January 1st.
Similarly, the Sindh education department notified winter holidays from December 22nd till 31st. With the Islamabad announcement, winter vacation schedules have now been finalized across Pakistan.
The winter holidays are welcomed by students and teachers alike as a chance to recharge. The break spans the Christmas and New Year period.
For schools, it marks the halfway point of the academic year before annual exams are held after spring break.
With the issuance of the notification well in advance, schools can effectively plan and revise syllabi for the remaining academic session. Meanwhile, families can finalize travel plans and students can look forward to the holidays.
The one-week winter vacation is a long-held annual tradition for educational institutions in the country. This year’s uniform holiday schedule across provinces also allows families with children studying in different cities to synchronize plans.
With the official declaration of dates, the countdown for the winter holidays has truly begun.
