Snapchat Plus Best Friends List Explained

Best Friends List on Snapchat Plus puts you at the center of your own personalized “solar system” of friends. Your closest friends are positioned as inner planets like Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. Fewer close friends are further out as gas giants like Jupiter or ice giants like Neptune.

The order of the planets matches their actual order in our solar system, so your #1 best friend shows up in the Mercury position, your second closest is Venus, third is Earth, fourth is Mars, and so on.

Different planet levels indicate how often you interact with that friend on Snapchat. So your Mercury bestie is your most frequent Snapchat companion. Your Neptune friend is someone you rarely chat with or view Stories from.

The feature also uses special badges to signify the type of friendship. A “Best Friends” badge means you and that person are each other’s #1 best friends. An asymmetrical “Friends” badge means you rank that friend highly, but they may not rank you as highly in return.

Unique Features of Snapchat Plus

In addition to the Best Friends List, Snapchat Plus offers several other unique features not available to regular users. Here are some of the other perks that come with a Snapchat Plus subscription:

Best Friends Forever

You can designate one #1 Best Friend as your “Bestie” with the Best Friends Forever feature. Their chat always stays at the top of your list for easy access.

Story Rewatch Indicator

See who has rewatched your Snapchat Story multiple times.

Custom App Icons & Themes

Personalize the look of your Snapchat app with exclusive icons and color themes.

Snapchat+ Badge

Display an exclusive Snapchat+ badge in your profile so everyone knows you have access to premium features.

Ghost Trails

View your friend’s mapped location history of your friends to see where they’ve been over the last few hours. Kind of creepy but useful if you need to track down your squad!

For hardcore Snapchat users, these bonus features may be worth the $3.99 monthly subscription fee alone. But the Best Friends List visualizations take Snapchat Plus to the next level in terms of understanding your closest social connections.

Trying Out Snapchat Plus

Before committing to an ongoing Snapchat Plus subscription, you can first try out the service with a 7-day free trial. Just upgrade to Snapchat Plus in the app and you’ll get immediate access to all of the premium features for a week at no cost.

The free trial gives you enough time to test out the enhanced Best Friends List and see if the other bonus features are useful to you. You can visualize your entire friend’s solar system, try rearranging friends to different planets, and see if the Story Rewatch Indicator reveals who your secret admirers are.

If you decide the added features aren’t worth $3.99/month, simply cancel before your 7 days are up and you won’t be charged. But if you get hooked on exclusive social insights and personalization options, you can sit back and let the auto-renew turn on.

For now, Snapchat Plus is only available on iOS devices. But an Android launch is expected soon as Snapchat continues rolling out its premium service to more users globally.
