Due to hot and humid weather, the Sindh education department has declared that summer vacations for schools will continue until August 14.
The provincial authorities made the decision with the approval of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah. An announcement to this effect stated that the new academic year in Sindh would begin on August 15, meaning the school holidays had been prolonged.
Sindh Summer Holidays Notification
Summer Holidays | Date |
---|---|
Starting of Vacations | June 1 |
Reopening of Schools | August 14 |
The relief was meant to prepare students and teaching staff for security and protection from further hostile weather the area continues to experience.
In Sindh, the provincial government usually shuts schools during summer because the summer temperature reaches a peak of 40°C. Such temperatures are dangerous for children and might lead to severe conditions like heat stroke or severe dehydration.
Such conditions can also interfere with students’ concentration and be disruptive, especially in schools that do not have air conditioning systems.
It reduces the effects of heat on the students and is in accord with tradition because schools are closed during this time anyway, so families can bond together.
