Sindh Removes Controversial Topics From O-Level Syllabus

The Sindh Education Department has initiated efforts to remove inappropriate content from the O-level syllabus. According to Rafia Javed, the department’s Additional Director, a chapter on “Same Sex Family” in the Sociological book has been prohibited from being taught to O-level students.

Another chapter in the Pakistan Studies book on “History and Culture of Pakistan” has also been prohibited.

Rafia Javed declared that these chapters are contrary to Pakistan’s cultural norms and directed private institutions to remove them from their curriculum.

In response to Senators Mohsin Aziz and Faisal Saleem Rehman’s worries that the content contradicted Islamic and cultural traditions assured the Senate that a letter was being prepared in collaboration with Cambridge asking for the removal of the “Same Sex Family” chapter from the O-level sociology book.
