School timings in Punjab would be extended after summer vacations as the provincial government will provide two weekly holidays to the students.
In Punjab, summer vacations started on June 1, 2024, and continued until August 14, when school reopened.
The provincial government in Punjab has not declared any change in the summer vacation of educational establishments until now.
Two Weekly Offs After Vacation
Earlier in June this year, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the same. So Saturday is also one of the government-declared weekly off days. Nowadays, the school remains closed two days a week: Saturday and Sunday.
He had said the decision had been taken to cushion the teachers’ fraternity in the province. That is why teachers are serving the nation, and it has become the community’s turn to protect them from harm.
The education minister said that the decision to have two weekly holidays was taken because teachers were under too much load.
Punjab School Timings from August 15
The minister also said that the school’s schedule would increase from Monday to Friday, so implementing two weekly classes would not pose a problem for the student’s education. He has not yet declared the new school timings.
At present, virtually all government schools and a large number of private schools function only on Sunday, which is their day off.
