
Punjab Education Department plans to hire 12,500 School Teaching Interns each year for its nine-month program to improve education across the province. This program solves teacher shortages by taking steps to keep educational quality high.
Each year the Education Department aims to hire 12,500 School Teaching Interns who must qualify for the position and earn monthly stipends at rates determined by their assigned school tier.
Eligibility Criteria
- People who apply for positions must currently reside in the district.
- To apply for this program, both a master’s degree and teaching certification are required.
Stipend Structure
Interns will receive monthly stipends based on their placement:
- Primary Schools: Rs. 38,000
- Middle Schools: Rs. 40,000
- High/Higher Secondary Schools: Rs. 45,000
Recruitment and Appointment Process
- Deputy DEOs, AEOs, school heads, and school councils must consent to complete the appointment process.
- Selected candidates will be listed on:
- Deputy DEOs office notice boards.
- An online portal.
- Individual school notice boards.
- Prospective candidates should submit their applications only on the official online system for their district.
Policies for STIs
STIs will exclude administrative tasks and evening school responsibilities from their assignments.
Intern teachers serve in a temporary assignment without the opportunity to transfer or become regular employees.
Interns who complete all program requirements get a certificate at their graduation.
