Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC) has approved the introduction of five new textbooks for intermediate classes. The decision was made with the aim to align the curriculum with top international standards.
The PBCC, in a recent meeting, instructed the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) to replace the existing textbooks for Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science. This change is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the learning process and enhance the quality of education for students in these critical subjects.
As per the official notification issued by the PBCC, the PCTB has been directed to swiftly undertake several key actions. These include adopting specific international standard books, negotiating copyright and royalty agreements, and initiating the printing process. The objective behind these actions is to ensure that the new textbooks are available to students in a timely manner.
It’s worth noting that the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) in Punjab have already incorporated an internationally recognized Biology textbook titled “An Inquiry into Biological Life” into their curriculum for Intermediate students. This move is seen as a precursor to the broader changes now being implemented.
In related news, the PBCC has also finalized the dates for the declaration of results for the annual matriculation exams. The results for class 10th will be announced on July 31, while those for class 9th will be declared on August 22. This announcement provides clarity and allows students to plan ahead for their future academic endeavors.
This initiative by the PBCC is a significant step towards improving the quality of education in Punjab, ensuring that students are equipped with knowledge that is on par with global standards.
