The government of Punjab has officially announced summer vacations for the province’s public and private schools and colleges. The break will start on June 1 and conclude on August 9, 2025, says Punjab Secretary for Schools Education Khalid Nazir Wattoo, according to 24News HD TV.
The decision is being made as nations increasingly worry about rising temperatures and the health of students affected by climate change.
Khalid Nazir Wattoo reported that the schedule announced could be changed if the temperatures get much more extreme in the days to come. He reiterated that the education department’s concern is still the safety of students and staff.
If the heat increases, the summer break may be moved forward by one week to protect students and teaching staff from the harm of long-term exposure to heat.
The Schools Education Department has already confirmed the essential arrangements for the vacation period. The announcement comes amid warnings from experts about how climate change and heat waves are profoundly affecting education, public health, and the provincial economy.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has launched precautionary steps for schools to ensure safe conditions until the break starts. These include enhancing the ventilation in the classroom, ensuring that the fans and cooling systems are in optimum service, and installing first-aid counters. Also, staff are being trained to respond effectively to heat-related emergencies.
Now that the holiday is public and preparations are in process, parents and school heads are encouraged to look for any news, especially if the heatwave deteriorates in the following days.
