For this scheme, the government has decided to set up a laptop assembling plant in the country. The government of Pakistan has allocated 4 billion rupees for the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme.
This laptop distribution scheme was started a few years ago by Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar but it was limited to Punjab province only.

But now the government has decided to start this PM laptop scheme across the country. According to the announced scheme, 1 lakh laptops will be distributed every year to bright students of universities and colleges.
The Prime Minister Laptop Scheme was officially announced by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. In his last address, the Prime Minister announced a total of six schemes for the youth.
These schemes include paid internships for unemployed youth, business loans, youth skill development schemes, and scholarships.
The people of Pakistan, especially the youth, have appreciated the government’s efforts but have also said that the government must ensure that the process is fair and transparent.

A laptop assembling plant is going to be built at Sunder Industrial Estate. Many international computer hardware manufacturers, including South Korea, Taiwan and China, have expressed interest in investing in the scheme.

Students taking admission in a government university recognized by HEC can apply for this scheme. Students should secure at least 60% marks in their final annual examination or 70% marks in their examination in case of semester system.
