The cricketing world is abuzz with anticipation as Pakistan and India are set to face off twice in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2023. The tournament which is scheduled to take place in Pakistan and Sri Lanka in September promises high-octane clashes between the two arch-rivals.
Media reports suggest that the first group match between the two nations is likely to occur on September 2. If both teams advance to the Super 4s, they are expected to meet again on September 10. However, the venues for these much-anticipated matches are yet to be finalized, with Colombo or Kandy in Sri Lanka being the probable locations.
Before their clash with India, the Pakistani team, also known as the Men in Green, will kick off their campaign against Nepal. This opening match is slated to take place in Multan on either August 30 or 31, following a grand opening ceremony.
According to the proposed schedule, Pakistan will depart for Sri Lanka after their first game. Meanwhile, all other participating teams, except India, will play one match each in Pakistan.
The upcoming tournament, set to run from August 31 to September 17, follows a hybrid model proposed by former PCB Chairman, Najam Sethi. As per this model, Pakistan will host the initial four matches of the event, while the remainder of the tournament will be held in Sri Lanka.
As the cricketing world eagerly awaits the final decision on the venues, the stage is set for an exciting series of matches in the Asia Cup 2023.
