Microsoft has launched a new subscription service called Copilot Pro with advanced AI features for $20 per month. Microsoft subscription offers deeper integration with Microsoft 365 apps, faster responses with the GPT-4 Turbo model, and a customizable Copilot GPT model for users.
Microsoft’s new offer comes after the company previewed its AI chatbot Copilot on Android app and via Windows 11 late last year. Copilot closely resembles offerings from competitors like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, providing conversational responses, image generation, logical reasoning, and data organization.
Microsoft paid Copilot Pro tier promises subscribers access to exclusive capabilities not available to free users, including Microsoft 365 integration across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. Image creation is also improved with wider landscape image generation, better quality, and more daily usage quotas.
Additionally, Copilot Pro subscribers can access the GPT-4 Turbo model for faster response times compared to free users. There is also the ability to choose the preferred GPT model and even customize it for specific topics.
Microsoft’s efforts to monetize Copilot are unsurprising given the computational requirements for operating AI at scale. Rivals like OpenAI and Google are taking a similar subscription-based approach to premium features. By apportioning costs amongst users, Microsoft aims to recoup its AI investments while allowing more people to benefit from Copilot’s capabilities.
