Due to the increased possibility of heatwaves in May and June, the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has proposed delaying exams beginning next year.
The annual inter-examinations in Sindh, including Karachi, are typically held in May and June. However, the increasing probability of heat waves as a result of climate change has generated worries about the pupils’ well-being.
In a letter to Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah, Prof. Saeeduddin advocated moving the annual exams to April and May next year to avoid the risks associated with heatwaves in May and June.
The letter stated that the extreme heat during these months makes it difficult for both students and administrators to conduct exams efficiently.
Prof. Saeeduddin encouraged the steering committee at their next meeting to accept the rescheduling of intermediate examinations and then seek approval from the appropriate authority.
The annual intermediate exams began today, May 30, across Sindh, including Karachi, and will continue till June 27.
