Quetta Gladiators have been granted the privilege of making the first pick in the Platinum category, as the draft order is set based on the inverse of the previous season’s standings.
The Karachi Kings are poised to make the first Diamond pick, while Peshawar Zalmi will lead the Gold category selections.
Multan Sultans have secured the first pick in the Silver category, and Islamabad United will be the first to choose in the Emerging category.
Lahore Qalandars, the champions of the past two editions, will round out the first round with the sixth pick and will also have the first Supplementary pick.
HBL PSL 2024 Draft Pick Order
This strategic arrangement ensures that each franchise gets a fair opportunity to strengthen its squad by having the first pick in different categories. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already opened the registration window for foreign players, indicating robust participation in the upcoming season.
Franchises are currently in the process of submitting relegation requests for players before finalizing their retentions. This system allows teams to match the player’s base category, and if not matched, the player may be relegated to a category below their base, ensuring a dynamic and competitive drafting environment.
The PSL 9 Draft is tentatively scheduled to take place in mid-December, following the conclusion of the National T20, with the flagship event itself planned to run from February 8 to March 24, 2024. As the cricketing community eagerly anticipates the draft, the finalized pick order adds another layer of excitement to the pre-season preparations.
