Ministry of Religious Affairs recently announced that the balloting for the regular Hajj scheme will be held on Thursday, December 29th, 2023.
According to ministry spokesperson Muhammad Umar Butt, the deadline for submitting applications has now passed. The government had extended the deadline multiple times due to a disappointing response. By the final deadline, over 66,000 individuals had applied under the regular scheme.
Meanwhile, the deadline for the Hajj sponsorship scheme was extended until December 31st, 2023. So far, just over 3,000 people have applied under this scheme.
Saudi Aviation authority has set a deadline of January 2nd, 2024 for all airlines to submit their Hajj flight schedules. This will allow time to coordinate flights for the expected influx of pilgrims once Hajj allocations have been finalized after the balloting.
The government aims to smoothly facilitate all aspects of the Hajj for Pakistani pilgrims this year. The upcoming balloting and flight scheduling deadlines are key milestones in that process.
With the dates now announced, both pilgrims and concerned authorities can prepare accordingly.
