Google Maps has introduced a handy new feature allowing users to share their live location in real-time with selected contacts. It provides a convenient way to coordinate meetups, ensure loved ones are safe, or simply let others know where you are.
How It Works
The Location Sharing feature enables sharing your real-time whereabouts via Google Maps on Android, iOS, or desktop. You choose who can view your location, for how long, and can stop sharing at any time.
Contacts can see your location updated live on their map, plus extras like battery level and if your phone is charging. If navigating to a destination, you can share estimated arrival too.
Don’t have someone in your Google contacts? No problem. Generate a shareable link to send your live location through messaging apps like WhatsApp.
Location Sharing offers uses like meeting up with friends, keeping tabs on kids, coordinating amongst coworkers, sharing trip progress, and more.
The feature provides convenience along with safety and peace of mind when connecting with others. Location access stops automatically when no longer needed.
