The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) Chairman has taken note of candidates’ objections over the Islamiyat Compulsory (Part-I) question paper for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination. A four-person committee has been constituted to look into the situation.
The committee consists of the Director (Registration and Sports) FBISE, the Director (Research and Academics) FBISE, the Director of Academics FDE, and a National Curriculum Council (NCC) Representative.
The committee will look at the paper’s questions, their alignment with the curriculum and required books and the substance of textbooks used at FDE institutions. Within a few days, the committee will present its report.
The Islamiyat Compulsory Part-I paper was held on Thursday, and candidates from Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) educational institutions claimed that the test was out of course, with the majority of the questions drawn from the previous curriculum.
According to the FBISE, nearly 137,000 applicants took the Islamiyat Part-I SSC paper, with 112,463 choosing the old curriculum and 24,857 choosing the new syllabus.
Candidates who picked the new curriculum have demanded that the Islamiyat Compulsory examination be retaken because the majority of the questions on Thursday’s paper were from the previous syllabus. “We want to retake the paper with the new syllabus, and no lenient marking is acceptable,” some applicants stated when asked for their thoughts.
