Eligibility Criteria for Government’s Scooties Scheme for Women

The federal government of Pakistan has initiated a women empowerment program, aiming to enhance mobility and independence among women. The scheme, announced by the National Commission for Human Rights Chairperson Nilofar Bakhtiar, involves offering scooties to women at discounted prices.

The government, led by PML-N, has allocated Rs5 billion for this initiative, which is part of a broader effort to empower women in the country. In addition to the scooties scheme, a daycare project is also set to be launched.

Under the scooties program, a total of 22,000 scooties will be distributed among working women across the country. Each province is slated to receive 4,000 scooties, with Islamabad receiving 4,100, and Gilgit-Baltistan being allocated 1,000. The Azad Jammu and Kashmir region will also be included in the project.

As for the eligibility criteria for this program, it is targeted toward women working in either the public or private sector, aged between 18 to 55 years. There is also an income requirement for applicants. Women earning a monthly income between Rs30,000 to Rs150,000 are eligible to apply for the scheme.

This initiative represents a significant step towards promoting gender equality and empowering women in Pakistan. By providing them with a means of transportation, the government aims to increase their participation in the workforce and contribute to the overall economic development of the country.
