The long-awaited results of the O-Level and IGCSE examinations have been released by Cambridge Assessment International Education, bringing an end to the anticipation of thousands of students in Pakistan. The announcement comes amid a grading controversy that has marked this year’s examination process.
According to the international education provider, the results for approximately 60,000 students who sat for the IGCSE and O-Level exams will be made public today. These qualifications are seen as crucial stepping stones in the student’s educational journey, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge for their future academic pursuits.
This year saw a significant surge in the number of entries for Cambridge International’s exam series. A total of 1.7 million entries were recorded across 5,600 schools in 147 countries for all qualifications combined. In Pakistan alone, over 200,000 entries were made for the IGCSE and O-Level exams in June, marking a 4% increase from the previous year. Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry emerged as the most popular subjects among the students.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and the disruption caused by the cancellation of examinations following violent protests in the aftermath of PTI chief’s arrest, students in Pakistan have shown remarkable resilience. The Cambridge Group Managing Director commended the students for their hard work and determination in achieving these results, highlighting their unwavering commitment to their education.
Uzma Yousuf, Cambridge International’s country director from Pakistan, also extended her congratulations to the students. She expressed her admiration for the resilience displayed by the students and their families in navigating through uncertainty. She also acknowledged the role of dedicated teachers in guiding students towards their academic achievements.
In conclusion, despite the hurdles faced, students have managed to secure the qualifications they need to progress with their education. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, commitment, and the strong support of their teachers and families.
