The government of Azad Jammu Kashmir declared a local holiday on Monday in the capital city of Muzaffar after the strikes and protests continued there.
Notification Issued for Local Holiday in Muzaffarabad
The notification has it that May 13 (Monday) will be a holiday at all government and private institutions in Muzaffarabad. This occurred after the protests occurred frighteningly.
Net services were also suspended as the protests were out of control and the tale of people getting one seemed frightening. The agitators decided the story was at an end after they failed to come to any desire, and no government proposed to address their position, fueled by the news that announced a protest march on the state capital.
The major demands that are causing widespread protests in AJK include slashing the electricity tariff by half since the electricity of this country is produced from the expensive Mangla Hydropower projects. People have also demanded the wheat subsidy, as the GB had given. Other than that, the people have also demanded the unnecessary perks and privileges enjoyed by the ruling class and the officials be ended immediately.
