How to Format Text on WhatsApp

Create Bullet Lists

1. On Android/iOS: Type an asterisk (*) followed by a space before each list item.
2. On WhatsApp Web: Go to the format menu, select the list icon, and then choose bullet list.
3. Hit enter after each list item to start a new line.
4. Use as many list items as needed to share full information.

For example:

The result will be a neatly formatted bulleted list that’s easy to read.

Create Numbered Lists

Numbered lists are perfect for sharing step-by-step instructions or chronological information. Here’s how to create them:

1. On Android/iOS: Type a number followed by a period (1.) before each item.
2. On WhatsApp Web: Go to the format menu, choose the list icon, then select the numbered list.
3. Hit enter after each item to start a new line.
4. Use sequential numbers for each item.

For example:

The results will be in a numbered list format suited for tutorials, processes, timelines, etc.

Add Quote Block

The quote format allows you to highlight excerpts from external content within your WhatsApp messages. Here’s how it works:

1. On Android/iOS: Type “>” followed by a space before the quoted content.
2. On WhatsApp Web: Go to the format menu and select the quote icon.
3. Type or paste in the quoted text afterward.
4. The text will appear with a vertical line alongside it indicating a quote.

For example:
