How to Calculate GPA and CGPA in Pakistan

The question of how to calculate CGPA in Pakistan must be on your mind whether you are a new university student or are still applying. Search for GPA and CGPA will probably turn up in two terms. The GPA and CGPA in Pakistan can be calculated by scrolling down a little.

What is your GPA in Pakistan?

There are eight semesters in a four-year graduate degree program; thus, your GPA (Grade Point Average) will be calculated eight times. It’s your semester performance, exactly like you used to gain your final term exam grades, marks, and percentages. The semester GPA is the term used in universities to describe the results of a semester.

GPA formula = Average = Total sum of all values / Total number of all values

What is CGPA in Pakistan?

Also calculated after every semester, the CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) looks to be the average result of your degree. In the case of graduation, your CGPA would indicate your overall performance. For example, how was your matric result calculated?

CGPA formula = Total Sum of (GPA * Credits) / Total Number of credits

How to Calculate GPA in Pakistan?

Every semester, your workload is determined by the courses you choose. In addition, there is a criterion for determining the grade. We used to have midterm, final, and class quizzes in school. The teacher also checked our class participation, providing feedback and a grade for our work. Every university has a criterion for calculating your semester GPA.

Students’ grades/percentages are calculated according to the following criteria at some universities. Each student will receive a grade based on their marks/percentage. The student’s GPA is calculated using the grade average. As a result, students must focus on various other activities in addition to their university exams.

First, you know the course criteria score

For example,

  • Quizzes, Assignments, Project Presentation, Class Participation score is 30%
  • Mid-Term Examination score is 30%
  • The final Examination score is 40%

Know grades on respective marks/percentage

For example,

GradesGrade PointsPercentage Score
A4.090-100%
A-3.6786-89%
B+3.3381-85%
B3.077-80%
B-2.6772-76%
C+2.3368-71%
C2.063-67%
C-1.6758-62%
D+1.3354-57%
D1.0050-53%
F0.00Below 50%

Know the average your average grade score

For example, according to the above grading system, if you take six courses in a semester and receive the following result:

CoursesGradesGrade Points
Course AA-3.67
Course BA4
Course CB3
Course DB-2.67
Course EC2
Course FB3

Average of grade points = (3.67+4+3+2.67+2+3)/6   Calculated GPA = 3.06

How to Calculate CGPA in Pakistan?

As your performance improves per semester, CPGA is calculated after each semester. Thus, it’s the average of your GPAs.

SemestersGPACGPA
Semester 13.063.06
Semester 23.163.11
Semester 33.653.29
Semester 43.703.39
Semester 53.593.43
Semester 62.773.32
Semester 73.253.31
Semester 83.283.30

The CGPA did not change in the first semester since the average of 3.06 did not change. 3.06 and 3.11 add up to 3.11, which was discovered later when the second semester GPA was 3.11. CGPAs are also calculated.
