Banks across the country have begun accepting applications for the Hajj pilgrimage of 2024. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has officially announced the commencement of this process, marking a new chapter in the spiritual journey of many faithful.
Starting from November 27th, 2023, prospective pilgrims can submit their applications through 15 designated banks, as part of the government Hajj scheme.
This window for application submissions will remain open until December 12th, providing a limited timeframe for those wishing to perform the sacred pilgrimage.
This year’s Hajj comes with a groundbreaking change that empowers women, as they are now permitted to perform Hajj without the need for a mahram (male guardian), for the first time in history. This progressive step is expected to facilitate the participation of more women in one of Islam’s five pillars.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has also introduced a sponsorship scheme with a specific quota. A total of 25,000 spots have been reserved for applicants applying from overseas using US dollars.
Those who apply through this scheme, including their relatives, will be exempt from the draw system, thereby guaranteeing their place in the pilgrimage.
For the government-sponsored Hajj scheme, it is essential for applicants to ensure that their National Identity Card remains valid at least until December 2024 to be considered eligible.
The ministry anticipates that approximately 89,605 Pakistani citizens will be able to undertake the Hajj pilgrimage next year through this program.
A draw will be conducted to select the fortunate participants. This ensures a fair and transparent selection process, giving every applicant an equal chance to fulfill their spiritual aspiration.
