The gaming world is abuzz with rumors about the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro, which is expected to come equipped with a more powerful GPU. This new model is speculated to offer accelerated ray tracing and superior performance, thanks to its brand-new GPU.
According to leaks, the PlayStation 5 Pro will no longer rely on AMD architecture for its hardware. Instead, it will be powered by an eight-core Zen 2 CPU with clock speeds in the low 4 GHz range.
The console is also rumored to feature a custom GPU with 60 compute units based on RDNA 3 architecture, running at 2500-2800 MHz.
The PlayStation 5 Pro is also expected to boast 16 GB of GDDR6 memory operating at 18000MT/s. This could potentially offer double the performance of the Tempest Engine and incorporate two shader engines.
However, these clock speeds are not yet finalized and won’t be until the system is ready for launch. Sony is reportedly testing multiple variations of the console.
Despite the rumors suggesting a departure from AMD architecture, it appears that the CPU will still be based on the same Zen 2 architecture as the current model. The spotlight will be on the new GPU based on Zen 3.
