UAE Announces Extended Holidays for Eid Al-Fitr

The Eid Al-Fitr holidays have been declared by the Federal Administration for Government Human Resources (FAHR) for govt employees in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal.

According to the Gregorian calendar, the holidays will begin on Thursday, April 20, and end on Sunday, April 23, providing inhabitants with a four-day respite.

If Ramadan lasts 30 days instead of 29, residents will enjoy an extra day off on Monday, April 24. The country’s moon sighting commission will reveal the exact day of Eid. People can await either a four-day or a five-day break.

According to the UAE’s International Astronomical Centre, 3 Shawwal is most likely to fall on 23 April this year, indicating a 29-day Ramadan.

Similarly, in accordance with Saudi labor law executive rules, workers will enjoy another four-day vacation for Eid Al-Adha at the end of June this year.
