15 Shaban Importance In Islam

The eighth month of the Islamic calendar is Shaban. It is a holy Islamic month of immense importance. During this month, people used to fast and pray to Almighty Allah for his blessings.

The 15th of Shaban is the most blessed night of the month. It is also known as Laylat al-Bara’at. Muslims make particular preparations to perform night prayers from evening to dawn on this blessed night. Additionally, Muslims fast and do different nawafils to get Allah (SWT) blessings. On the night of the 15th of Shaban, it is customary to read Surah Yaseen after Maghrib or Isha prayers.

One hadith revealed that explains the importance of the 15th night of Shaban in Islam is one reported by Imam Ahmad and At-Tabarani to the effect that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Almighty Allah descends to the lowest Heaven on the 15th night of Shaban and forgives people greater than the number of the hairs of the sheep of Banu Kalb” (a tribe that has a great number of sheep).

The night of 15 Sha’ban is suggested for special worship. This is based on a Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), according to which Allah will say during the night of Shaban 15th, “Is there any person repenting so that I forgive him, and any person seeking provision so that I provide for him, and any person in distress so that I relieve him, and so on until dawn?” (Ibn Majah)
