What happened with Manti Te’o and “Untold” and “The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist”
Manti Te’o, an American football player for Notre Dame, competed in Indiana. The unfortunate guy believed a false story and started seeing a nonexistent woman. Today, Netflix published the latest episode of their “Untold” documentary series, and it tells Te’o’s story: The Bride Who Didn’t Exist. In the documentary, the two main characters, Te’o and his “lover,” recount what happened from their points of view.
In the beginning, there was Te’o’s relationship with Lennay Kekua, a woman he found on the internet and with whom he went on a one-year-long romance. Due to a car accident and subsequent diagnosis of leukemia, the woman spent most of that time in the hospital.
Although they lived on opposite sides of the country (she in California, he in Indiana), they chatted daily on the phone and he became one of her strongest supports during her sickness. In October 2012, Te’o found out that his grandmother and wife had died within six hours of each other, yet he did not attend his wife’s funeral.
A few months later, it was found that the woman did not exist. A child had been playing the part of Lennay Kekua. To wrap off the tale, he created a fake social media page and ended the character’s fictional life. Consequently, Te’o fell prey to a catfisher. Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, whose purported partner had recently died, came forward after the media uproar.

Te’o currently stands as a free agent in the National Football League. Before that, he played for the San Diego Chargers for four seasons and then the New Orleans Saints for another two. After spending time on the Chicago Bears practice squad, he was promoted to the active roster in January of 2021.
Te’o has started a family and is no longer involved in professional football. However, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo is now known as Naya Tuiasosopo because she transitioned to a female identity.
After being connected to Instagram fitness star Jovi Nicole since 2016, the two tied the knot in August 2020. Te’o and his wife Nicole had their first child together, a girl they named Hiro, on August 12, 2021, just one year after their wedding. His current wealth is estimated to be $3.5 million.
