After the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises, party leader Fawad Chaudhry’s reaction has created quite a stir.
On Tuesday, the PTI chief traveled to the federal capital to appear in the federal capital to seek extension of his bail in the FIR registered against him for making statements against state institutions, Fawad Chaudhry and his co-defendants. Several PTI leaders, including Bhai Faisal Chaudhary, Advocate, were present in the courtroom, as were many members of the media.
Earlier, Khan had already received bail in seven cases till May 23 from the Anti-Terrorism Court.
Given this, PTI leaders were expecting Khan to be granted two remaining bails.
However, to the surprise of the entire country, when the PTI chairman was getting his biometrics done, Rangers officials arrested him. In connection with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
After this development, Advocate Faisal Chaudhry opened the window of the IHC and asked the lawyers outside to protest.
The lawyers complied; However, Fawad was not present on the occasion.
According to a BBC report, Fawad took his brother’s hand and was heard saying:Imran was blown away, let’s go. [Irman Khan has been arrested. Let’s go.]”
According to British media, he then went back and sat in his chair in the courtroom.
It may be noted that while protests broke out in various cities across the country following Khan’s arrest, the IHC late on Tuesday declared the arrest legal.
