Piers Morgan recently hit out at Alan Cummings after the actor returned an OBE award.
Taking to Twitter on Friday, Morgan retweeted a report from the ITV News account, writing, “So I’ve returned my award, explaining my reasons and being very grateful to have been given it in the first place. I’m back to plain old Alan Cummings now.
To this, Morgan replied, “What a pathetic, scheming, disloyal, attention-seeking little twerp.”
Earlier, Cummings, who was awarded the honor as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honors in 2009, announced that he had returned the OBE award.
On his Instagram post, the actor wrote, “The conversation about the Queen’s death and the role of the monarchy and in particular the way the British Empire benefited at the expense (and death) of indigenous peoples around the world, has Really opened my eyes.”
He added, “Also, thankfully, times and laws have changed in America, and the LGBTQ+ award that was brought back in 2009 is now less powerful than the misgivings I used to associate with the toxicity of empire.” (OBE stands for Officers of the British Empire).
