An urgent request from the Interprovincial Coordination Ministry has been made to the Normalization Committee to organize elections for the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) within six months of now.
IPC Secretary Ahmad Hanif and Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Col. (r) Asif Zaman told the National Assembly Standing Committee on IPC that the NC has six months from the day FIFA withdrew its international suspension to organize elections for the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).
MNA Shahida Rehmani, a member of the National Assembly committee, also suggested that the PFF elections should be held within six months and commended the IPC for their participation in removing the ban on football.
Due to third-party intervention, Pakistan football was suspended by FIFA for nearly a year last year after the Ashfaq Shah Group invaded PFF offices in Lahore. Fifa confirmed that Pakistan is allowed to rejoin international football and stated that the National Council (NC) will hold the office for a year, during which time they will be expected to lay the foundations for the progress of Pakistani football and eventually hold free and fair elections to elect a new president.
Third-party interference will not be permitted, according to FIFA, and might result in a new suspension. Before being abolished, the Normalization Committee is required to perform the responsibilities it has been allocated by the deadline of 30 June 2023 and conduct free and fair elections.
