Aaron Carter’s sudden death put his son in legal trouble because he reportedly died without a will, allowing the state of California to decide who should inherit his estate.
Popular pop icon and Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter’s brother Aaron, 34, was found dead in the bathtub of his Lancaster, California home on Saturday, November 5.
Family sources said TMZ that Aaron was ‘advised by his solicitor to make a will’, particularly as he had a child dependent on him;
However, in most states when a person dies without a will and leaves a child behind, the child inherits the parent’s estate.
A source said TMZ Aaron was ‘not in a good place financially when he died’, while his house had recently been put on the market.
The publication also reported that because of the drama between Aaron and his fiancee Melanie Martin, the L.A. County Dept. The Office of Children and Family Services got involved and 11-month-old Prince was removed from their home and has been living with Melania’s mother since September.
Carter split from fiancé Martin just a week after welcoming their first child together.
The release of Aaron Carter’s memoir has been temporarily postponed following a backlash from the late star’s management and ex-girlfriend Hilary Duff, who branded it a ‘heartless money grab’.
The memoir, titled Aaron Carter: An Unfinished Story of an Unfinished Life, was set to be released on November 15, 10 days after he was found dead in his home at the age of 34.
