A partial building collapse near Yale University in New Haven injured several people on Friday.
According to NBCLocal authorities said the building was under construction when a concrete pouring error occurred, causing at least seven people to fall, injuring two critically.
City firefighters and other authorities were called to Lafayette Street shortly after 12:30 p.m.
“Our units responded quickly within minutes and found several individuals with varying degrees of injuries, from broken bones to three partially buried under the debris,” Fire Chief John Allston Jr. said during a news conference. were suppressed.”
He added that those who were trapped had to be evacuated.
Officials said 36 people were on the job at the time, and all were accounted for.
“They were pouring concrete on this building, and while they were pouring concrete, part of the second floor collapsed onto the first floor and then into the basement,” explained Mayor Justin Eliker.
