A Czech athlete, Josef Salk aka Juska, set a new world record for the longest time in the belly plank position (male) with 9.38 hours and 47 seconds.
The record was previously held by Daniel Scully – an Australian – with a time of 9:30 hours and 1 second.
Abdominal planks are one of the most punishing exercises, with many struggling to maintain form for just a few minutes.
According to guinnessworldrecords.com, Joska, a therapist, teacher and personal development coach, took on the challenge on May 20 at the Avatar Festival at the Park Hotel in Pilsen, Czech Republic.
Speaking on the occasion, Juska said that he had been living what he described as a life of excess and poor health until a life-changing event made him rethink everything and become a Forced to become a motivational coach.
“Five years ago, I was 15 kg (33 lb) overweight, addicted to alcohol and cigarettes,” he added.
