LAHORE: Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamiana claimed that the authorities on Friday arrested 6 more people who tried to escape from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence. The “terrorists” were arrested, taking the total number of arrests to 14.
According to CCPO Kamiana, four terrorists were allegedly involved in the attack on Askari Tower while two of them were among those who vandalized the Corps Commander House Lahore.
The arrest comes a day after Punjab’s Caretaker Information Minister Aamir Mir said eight “terrorists” were arrested while escaping from Lahore’s Zaman Park area.
He said that the arrested terrorists have already been identified and they are allegedly involved in the attack on Lahore Corps Commander House on May 9.
Government negotiation team will visit Zaman Park for negotiations.
The confirmation of the arrests by CCPO Kamiana came a few hours before a negotiation team headed by Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa arrived at Zaman Park today after Friday prayers.
The team is visiting Zaman Park for talks with PTI on the instructions of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi.
Government sources said the government team is likely to reach Zaman Park around 2 pm and will discuss the Zaman Park search operation with PTI representatives. Geo News.
Sources added that if both sides agree, 400 police personnel can be part of the search.

During a meeting today, the caretaker chief minister ordered that the cases registered against the miscreants should be pursued with full force and the “absconding criminals” should be arrested as soon as possible.
Additionally, several other decisions were taken in the meeting to review the progress in the search for the culprits involved in the violent protests that followed the arrest of Imran Khan on May 9.
In the meeting, the members decided to approve cash rewards for identifying the accused involved in terrorist incidents.
The participants of the meeting also expressed concern over the alleged illegal facilitation of the attack on the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) office in Faisalabad.
Among those accused of involvement in the attack is Ali Afzal Sahi, a close relative of a judge.
The meeting also decided that a reference would be sent against the judge for providing extraordinary facilities to terrorists, while the ‘illegal and unconstitutional facilitation’ of torture suspects would also be challenged.
It was decided in the meeting that the facilitation of the accused is equivalent to murder of justice.
