On Monday, Netflix announced that its hit drama series Diplomat has been renewed for a second season.
Netflix renewed its second best show of 2023 just two weeks after its premiere on April 20, something Netflix isn’t known for rushing.
The hit political drama was released on Netflix on April 20, and immediately hit the no. 1 on the platform with 57.48 million watch hours during the first weekend.
Netflix’s VP of drama Jenny Howe cited the cliffhanger at the end of the first season that led to the show’s return at all.
“Fans around the world are loving every minute of it. Diplomat’s gripping and uplifting drama, and embracing Keri Russell’s powerful performance as Kate Wyler,” she said.
“After this jaw-dropping cliffhanger, we can’t wait to see what the incredibly visionary team of Deborah Kahn, Janice Williams and Keri Russell have in store for Season 2.”
Creator/showrunner EP Deborah Kahn also expressed her excitement at the news, saying, “We had a great time. diplomat, And it’s a thrill to see how many people are enjoying it. We are so glad we get to do it again!
Diplomat is a political thriller about a career diplomat, Kate Wyler, who lands a job as the US ambassador to Britain during an international crisis while also juggling her tumultuous personal life.
