Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday acknowledged the services of Qazi Abdul Rehman Amritsari – a school teacher who named Pakistan’s new capital Islamabad in 1959.
In recognition of their services and on the recommendations of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the Prime Minister gave the allotment letter of a residential plot in Park Enclave to the heirs of the late Amritsari.
An official statement said that the Prime Minister has fulfilled the government’s promise to recognize the services of school teachers.
He said that Amritsari’s services to Pakistan cannot be ignored. He said that the nation pays tribute to this school teacher who gave identity to the federal capital.
The Prime Minister directed the CDA officials to complete all the formalities and provide possession of the plot to the heirs of the school teacher.
