Prince William and Kate Middleton had a rough start to their courtship, with the royal leaving her loved one in tears on New Year’s Eve before their wedding.
Queen Elizabeth’s grandson William changed his mind about spending New Year’s Eve with then-girlfriend Kate at the behest of his family. The move left Kate in tears.
According to royal writer Katie Nicholl, the Prince informed Kate that the plans had changed days after her grandmother and father urged them not to rush into their relationship.
William confirmed that the couple broke up shortly after spending the New Year with the royal family at Sandringham.
Writing in her 2011 book The Making of a Royal Romance, Ms Nicholl said: “William was having second thoughts and was open to discussing his future with Kate with the Queen and then Prince Charles. sat down with. Be hasty in anything.”
They separated for a few months in 2007. But within months of their split, Prince William rekindled their relationship and the pair have been inseparable ever since.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield claimed that Kate’s behavior after the split won her praise from the late Queen after refusing to discuss her relationship with William.
