Alec Baldwin will be charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the on-set death of cinematographer Halina Hutchins. rustAccording to reports.
Hutchins’ family has apparently responded to news of Baldwin’s manslaughter charge, saying “no one is above the law.”
Baldwin, 64, could face up to 18 months behind bars in 2021 after the fatal shooting of Hutchison, who was killed on set in October 2021 when Baldwin discharged a prop gun, prompting film director Joel Souza was also injured.
Both Baldwin and the film’s armourer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reid, face two counts of involuntary manslaughter over Hitchens’ death on the film’s Santa Fe County set.
Brian Panish, attorney for the late cinematographer’s husband Matt, spoke on behalf of the Hutchins family, saying, “We want to thank the Santa Fe Sheriff and District Attorney for completing their thorough investigation and determining that Halina’s Involuntary manslaughter charges are warranted for murder.Hutchins’ conscious disregard for human life.
“Our independent investigation also confirms the allegations. It is a comfort to the family that in New Mexico, no one is above the law. We support the allegations, will fully cooperate with this prosecution, and We sincerely hope that the justice system will work. Protect the public and hold lawbreakers accountable.”
