Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) said on Tuesday that gas supply to some areas of Balochistan was disrupted after a 12-inch diameter gas pipeline burst.
The company added that efforts are underway to ascertain the cause of the incident.
Taking to its official Twitter handle, SSGC said that the pipeline explosion occurred in Sirajabad, Bolan, Balochistan at around 8 pm. “Law enforcement and intelligence agencies are working to determine the cause of the loss,” the company said.
SSGC said the pipeline has been secured. As a response, the local administration has started cleaning the surrounding area at night.
The company says that gas supply has been suspended in Machh, Mastung, Kalat, Ziarat and other adjacent towns due to the explosion. However, the company said it will supply gas to the affected areas through alternative sources until the damaged line is fully repaired.
According to an official statement, the SSGC will start the repair work immediately after the preliminary investigation in the morning. After receiving clearance, its technical teams will investigate the cause of the damage.
