The Telegraph’s royal editor Hannah Furness has answered the question of why the royal family has not responded to allegations made by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in their Netflix documentary.
“The plan is to keep calm and carry on. It’s very painful, it’s very tiring but it’s not going to distract him from the job,” he wrote, citing a royal source.
Furness wrote, “The word for the royal family? Dignity. Behind-the-scenes exhaustion, sure, but first of all dignity in the navel.”
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan launched fresh criticism of the British royal family in new episodes of their documentary series, released on Thursday, during a summit meeting to discuss their future with older brother Prince William. Accused of shouting.
In the final three episodes of the Netflix series, Harry also said that aides to William, now heir to the throne, were involved in negative stories about the couple in the media and blamed the press for Meghan’s miscarriage.
“It’s a dirty game. There’s a leak but there’s also a story plant,” Harry said. “So if the comms (communications) team wants to remove a negative story about their principal, they’ll trade off and give you something about someone else’s principal.”
