Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday appreciated. Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) “Principled Position” on the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
In a meeting with OIC Secretary General Hussain Barham Taha, the Prime Minister praised the OIC. organization for his continued support for the settlement of the long-standing dispute.
He said that the support of the OIC is in line with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The OIC Secretary General is in Pakistan on his first visit after assuming office in November 2021.
The Prime Minister highlighted the dire situation of human rights and humanitarian situation in India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Welcoming the Secretary General’s historic visit to Azad Kashmir and the Line of Control (LoC), Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized that his visit would support the OIC in the just struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination. A strong message will go out.
Palestine problem
The Prime Minister also renewed the unwavering support of the people and the government of Pakistan to the Palestinian people and their cause. He reiterated that any solution to the Palestinian issue must be based on the pre-1967 border with Al Quds al-Sharif as its capital.
Recognizing that the OIC has stepped up its engagement with Afghanistan since the Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in December 2021 in Islamabad, the Secretary-General encouraged them to step up efforts to address and alleviate the humanitarian challenges faced by the people. of Afghanistan.
The Prime Minister also reiterated the need to counter the growing anti-Muslim sentiments and efforts to desecrate the Holy Prophet.
He expressed concern over the intensifying campaign of Islamophobia, particularly in the region, where the anti-Muslim and anti-Islam agenda is being pushed as an instrument of state policy.
The Secretary General reiterated the OIC’s full support for the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir conflict in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
He also condoled the loss of life and property caused by the recent climatic floods in Pakistan.
