Islamabad/Lahore: Senator Azam Swati The Supreme Court was approached on Thursday to transfer all cases filed against senior army officers in Sindh and Balochistan over controversial tweets against them to Islamabad.
The petition was filed by his lawyer Babar Awan, in which the Federation, the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Inspector General of Sindh and Balochistan were made parties.
Azam Swati said in his petition that the federal agency arrested him in a false case. He further said that many cases have been registered against him in the country.
Swati added that she faces security threats when appearing in cases filed against her in different parts of the country.
In such a situation, the senator requested the Supreme Court to order that the cases registered against him in Sindh and Balochistan should be consolidated and transferred to Islamabad.
The senator also requested the court to suspend the proceedings of the FIR registered against him until his plea is heard.
“The petitioner has invoked the constitutional jurisdiction of this Hon’ble Court on a question of great public importance and to transfer all the FIRs to a single venue/jurisdiction to enable the petitioner to defend himself effectively. sought treatment for,” the petition said.
Yasmeen Rashid filed a petition against Swati’s arrest.
On the other hand, PTI leader Yasmin Rashid filed an application in the Supreme Court Lahore Registry. Arrest of Swati.calling it “illegal”.
Rasheed claimed in his petition that the senator was arrested on political grounds.
The petition said that action should be taken against those responsible for Azam Swati’s arrest.
It further said that his family is ill-treated and notice should be taken against this act. Also asked to ensure the sanctity of the house.
The PTI leader also said that women would protest against Home Minister Rana Sanaullah’s mistreatment of women.
“We hope that the Chief Justice will give us justice,” she said, adding that she would also file a petition against JUI(F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Arrest of Swati.
The PTI leader was arrested again. Speaking against senior military officers Chak Shahzad, from his farmhouse in Islamabad on Sunday last week.
On the same day, he was produced before a magistrate who granted Senator Swati’s two-day physical remand.
The senator was again produced in court on Tuesday and his remand was extended for another four days.
