Britain’s “craziest Christmas lights” will return this year despite rising energy and living costs. Bromsgrove-based Malcolm and Wendy Molloy promise to keep their home bright and bring “joy” to the region.
Birmingham Live reported that despite UK utility rates rising, the couple will continue with their Christmas extravaganza, which has made the Worcestershire home a Christmas destination.
The couple admits that the cost of living has forced them to replace a permanent light. This major adjustment will shorten the hours of the lights, putting the Christmas lights out earlier than usual. With the LED lights, the couple cut their festival energy bill from £750 to £450, but the cost of living will rise again.
Nearby Primrose Hospice will be accepting donations to light up the property for charity. Malcolm and Wendy will launch their Christmas lights show after sundown on Friday 9th December.
“I know electricity prices have gone up since last year but we wanted to keep the Christmas lights on to cheer everyone up,” added Malcolm, “bringing you joy amidst all the gloom at this time. There will be and people like to come to see the light.
“The only difference will be that this year I will set the timer for a few less hours but everyone will still have plenty of time to enjoy them.”
For 20 years, the couple have decorated their home, raising thousands of pounds for charity
