Lavish food is common at weddings, but amid inflation, brides have found a way to meet the expenses.
When the bride-to-be realized that her budget for the wedding ceremony had failed, she asked people on Facebook for help.
“Did anyone ask their guests to pay for their meal?” she asked in the post that later went viral on Reddit with the headline “Bride Fails to Budget, Wants Her Guests to Pay for Her Reception”.
She explained how everything was so expensive that the couple was considering different options. The bride said she will either have to delay the ceremony, which is scheduled to take place in October or cancel the venue she has chosen.
The option that made the bride’s post go viral was the last one in which she asked guests to pay for food instead of gifts.
She said she had sent the invitations so she didn’t know what to do now.
“Please help. I’m stressed and depressed.”
Social media users sympathized with the woman and expressed their thoughts in the comments section.
One user said: “Personally I’d be more than happy to be asked to pay for my meal instead of a gift.”
“I would have been perfectly fine going to a wedding like that,” said another.
