Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly signaled for Queen Elizabeth II to put her foot down as the couple continue their veiled banter within the royal family.
Royal author Robert Lacey wrote in his book Battle of Brothers that the Sussexes attempted to sell merchandise under their royal trademark ‘Sussex Royal’.
“Once again Harry has completely failed to consult the Queen about a major move affecting his royal job and image – and the image of the Crown as a whole. The family has finally hit back.
“Elizabeth II has always had a soft spot for Harry, and she was delighted by the arrival of Meghan, whose personal energies seemed a great fit for her grandson,” he added.
“As Head of the Commonwealth and presiding over a more multicultural society in Britain, the Queen particularly welcomed the exciting new dimension that mixed-race recruitment brought to Windsor’s identity – and as As we’ll see later in the series, he himself saw when things were going wrong, and he helped devise a strategy that he firmly hoped would make things easier for the couple.
“But there were some matters on which Elizabeth II would not compromise – and chief among them was the authority of the crown,” the author continued.
It elaborated: “By not disclosing their plans to market merchandise under their royal trademark, Harry and Meghan have dangerously breached this authority. The Crown’s consent is required to commercialize the Crown.” was — and Sussex had not attempted it.”
