After the attack on PTI Chairman Imran during the long march in Gujranwala, prominent personalities and sportspersons condemned the incident and wished the former prime minister well.
The PTI chief is safe and the bullets reportedly passed through his body but did not injure his bones. He was earlier shifted to Shaukat Khanum Lahore after treatment at an undisclosed location.
Pakistan’s legendary captain Babar Azam strongly condemned the “heinous attack” on Khan and prayed that Allah would protect him and Pakistan.
Pakistan batsman Imamul Haq said violence in any form is not acceptable as he prayed for Khan’s speedy recovery.
Pakistan’s short format vice-captain Shadab Khan also expressed hope that Khan will recover soon.
Former cricketer Wasim Akram – who played under Khan during the 1992 World Cup win – said he was dismayed by the unfolding events.
“Our prayers are with Imran bhai and everyone there. We must come together as a country and not allow anyone to spoil our national unity.”
Pakistani actress Armina Khan said she was “shell-shocked” and asked: “Did these people seriously think they could get away with this in today’s world?”
Actor Osama Khalid Butt said his prayers are with Khan, Senator Faisal Javed and the PTI convoy. “If the worst had happened (Nawzabullah), this country would have gone into a state of anarchy.”
